JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole RoboBroncs had 2 sixth grade teams compete in the Wyoming State FIRST Lego League Championships on Saturday March 27th.

The Tuesday team came in 7th overall, out of 34 teams, with a score of 185. The Monday team scored 120 for a 24th place finish.

The judges were impressed how well the teams worked through virtual school and the two times per week school. No other teams in the state faced these challenges.

According to the coaches, while they loved that each student had their own robot, it unfortunately worked against the team in the scoring for teamwork. Teams usually coollaborate on one robot for the entire season, rather than individual robots.

Coach Hope Sieck said, “I was so impressed by the teamwork and collaboration this season. We have a great group of robot builders, programmers, project designers, and communicators to send on to 7th grade Robotics! A special shout out to German and Zach for their excellent public speaking skills with the judges. Everyone did their part to build strong teams— it was a pleasure to see the kids in action this season!”

The Jackson Hole “First Tech Challenge”  (FTC) students will be wrapping up their season on May 1st with a virtual presentation at the Wyoming State FIRST Tech Challenge Championships. The FTC students are eighth and ninth grade students, it is the stepping stone program for students to learn design, build, and program skills using TETRIX.
