“I am proud and excited to announce my candidacy for Mayor of Jackson,” Sell Chambers said in the announcement. “Assertive and creative leadership is crucial right now and I want the community to know someone is ready and willing to be in their corner. I will work for Jackson with the same determination, innovation and commitment that characterizes the community members of Jackson.”

According to Sell Chambers, current Mayor Hailey Morton Levinson has not yet decided whether she will seek re-election.

“It was really important to me to talk with Hailey about her next steps before I decided to run,” Sell Chambers included in the announcement. “After weeks of discussions, she is still unsure about what she wants to do, so I decided it was time.”

Sell Chambers mentioned that addressing Jackson’s high cost of living, property taxes and rent prices would be central to her platform.

“Jackson wants assertive leaders who will follow through, let them know where they stand and make common sense decisions that are fair and meaningful to residents — and not bailout private developers,” she said. “The feedback I get over and over is, ‘Thank you for saying the hard things,’ — ‘Even if I don’t always agree with you, I appreciate that I always know where you stand.’”
