Paschall McDaniel, center, stands with her Wyoming State Spelling Bee 1st and 3rd place competitors.

JACKSON, WY — Jackson student Paschall McDaniel competed in the Wyoming State Spelling Bee in Rock Springs, Wyoming last weekend, and made her hometown proud.

McDaniel, a 7th grader at Jackson Hole Classical Academy, placed second and fought hard. The battle for first and second place lasted 13 rounds — the longest in Wyoming State Spelling Bee history.

Unfortunately, only the first place winner qualified to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington DC, but congratulations are still in order. Way to make us proud, McDaniel.
