JACKSON, Wyo. — The first day of April is always a cause for celebration in Jackson. While some flock to the ski resort for Gaper Day celebrations, others are posting April Fools’ Day jokes to social media.
Jackson Hole Land Trust posted the photo above, featuring a doctored image of a white-capped wave rolling across the pond at Rendezvous Park.
“What’s the one thing Wyoming’s missing? Surfing,” Land Trust posted. “Well, not for long… Coming June 2026, R Park is transforming into a state-of-the-art wave pool—perfect barrels in the Tetons! #surfthetetons.”
Grand Targhee Resort’s joke similarly focused on bringing a new activity to the area: monster trucks.
“This ain’t your grandma’s ski trip,” Targhee posted on its website. “Less Powder. More Power. This summer, Grand Targhee turns into a high-altitude metal-crushing, engine-roaring, snow-blasting arena of chaos. We’re talking 40,000 pounds of pure adrenaline on tires big enough to flatten your Subaru parked in Lot 2. Don’t miss the burnout competition in front of the Trap Bar.”
Compass Jackson Hole also got in on the fun. The real estate team posted an illustration of the “first-ever home atop a Teton summit,” which includes “ultimate privacy, and climb-in/climb-out access.”
Also participating was See Jackson Hole, which jokingly posted a photo of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania alongside the caption, “A little Teton love to get your day started!”

Road to Zero Waste Jackson Hole took the opportunity to post a recycling public service announcement.
“APRIL FOOLS!” the organization posted with the image below. “Okay, okay… Please don’t put your couch in the recycling bin. Ever. For real: Bulky items like couches should be donated or taken to the Trash Transfer Station. Let’s keep our recycling clean… and our bins couch-free.”
