JACKSON, Wyo. — Wyoming High School Cross Country state championships were moved up a day in anticipation of bad weather Saturday. The time change didn’t bother Jackson much. They were more than ready to run.
Jackson took home both the boys and girls team state championships on Friday hosted by Kelly Walsh High School at the Paradise Valley Country Club in Casper. The boys’ teams finished with 78 total points, and the girls’ team finished with 45 total points.
For the boys, senior Ben Williams took the 5k with a 15:55. Mason Wheeler, junior, clocked in at 16:07 for 3rd. Junior Brandon Brazil, Axel Klomparens, Roman Goralski, and Juan Flores also helped pace the boys to their state title
The girls top 5k finisher was junior Kate Brigham whose 18:51 was good enough for 3rd. Senior Parker Smith was not far behind (6th) with a 19:07; followed by Sarah Trujillo, Muriel Jones, Jacie Chatham, Annika Peacock, and Zaidee Smith.
