JACKSON, Wyo. — Looking to reduce, reuse and recycle in a more creative way?
As part of its larger 35-year anniversary celebration, Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling (ISWR) has launched its Recycled Art Contest.
All artwork must be made from post-consumer, recycled or discarded materials; in other words, art must be composed of items that would otherwise be thrown away or tossed in a recycling bin. New or non-recycled materials are only allowed to be used in the assembly process (e.g. glue, tape, string, fasteners, paint, sealant).
Submissions will be showcased at the Recycling Center Open House & Recycled Art Show on Oct. 12, with judging and public voting for the People’s Choice Award that day. Finalists and selected works will be displayed again during Zero Waste Week events on Oct. 17, at the Center for the Arts.
More than $5,000 in prize money is on the line in this contest, with free entry and open eligibility. Participants must register by Oct. 1. Drop off art entries the week of Oct. 6 to 10 at the Recycling Center. Prizes include:
- Best in Show – $1,500
- Runner-Up – $1,000
