VICTOR, Idaho — Idaho Fish and Game has announced its spring fish stocking schedule, and the agency plans to release nearly 73,000 catchable-sized trout in the Upper Snake Region in May.

According to Idaho Fish and Game, the fish to be released will be about 10 to 12 inches. Trout will be stocked in various locations including Victor, Swan Valley, Island Park and Idaho Falls. Stocking is dependent on conditions and could change due to weather or staffing constraints.

Approximately 400 trout will be stocked in Trail Creek Pond in Victor between May 25 and 29. The pond, known as the Victor Kids Pond, is located on ID33 just north of Mike Harris Campground. Another 800 trout will be released during that same time frame in Louis Pond, which is in Swan Valley just west of the intersection with ID31.

Near Island Park, the Henry’s Fork is expected to see 5,000 trout stocked between May 4 and 8. Idaho Fish and Game will also stock the Buffalo River and the Warm River, both tributaries of the Henry’s Fork. The Buffalo River will see 1,000 trout stocked between May 4 and 8, and the Warm River will see 950 trout stocked between May 18 and 22. The agency will release 18,500 trout in the Island Park Reservoir between May 18 and 22.

In the Idaho Falls region, two different releases will take place in the Snake River; 1,200 trout will be stocked between May 11 and 15, and another 1,200 will be released between May 25 and 29. The Ririe Reservoir will receive over 20,000 trout — 2,200 of which will be tiger trout — between May 18 and 22.
