JACKSON, Wyo. — On the heels of becoming the first Wyoming native to headline Cheyenne’s Frontier Days, the distinctive tenor voice of Sheridan-raised Ian Munsick returns to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for the third year in a row. The two-night run this Thursday and Friday will feature his duo lineup, which includes Jonathan Warren on fiddle.
Munsick, who sold 100,000 headline tickets in 2024, has accomplished a great deal since moving to Nashville over 12 years ago at the age of 18 to pursue the dream of a working artist in country music. He emerged in 2017, establishing a self-produced, self-engineered presence that lyrically evokes his rural upbringing while fully embracing the cosmopolitan country-pop sound of Nashville. He has released three albums with Warner Music Nashville — Coyote Cry (2021), the Old-West themed White Buffalo (2023), and this year’s Eagle Feather, with stories of Native Americans and romantic ideas of the cowboy.
In September, Munsick rediscovered independence while enjoying the fruits of his labor, announcing that he’s parting ways with his major label for greener pastures. He’ll kick off the new era early next year with a 17-date headlining “The Eagle Flies Free Tour,” Feb. 13 in Charlotte.
“I signed with my record label, Warner Music Nashville, in 2020 and released three full albums in that partnership. I’m thankful for all we learned and accomplished together, however, the time has come for me to fly free. It is with optimism and gratitude that I have decided to part ways and roam independently,” Munsick shared in a social media post.
“Of all the accomplishments and relationships I’ve made since I started my music career, one remains at the summit of the mountain: fans like you,” Munsick continued. “You have allowed me to break the chains of Music Row and fly free. You were the reason I moved to Nashville in the first place, and you are now the reason why I have the freedom to blaze my own trail.”
Munsick accumulated over one billion global streams with his first two albums, Coyote Cry and White Buffalo. His duet with Cody Johnson, “Long Live Cowgirls,” reached No. 1 on SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown, and it was named one of Amazon Music’s Best Country Songs of 2022.
