JACKSON, WY—Jackson’s resident vinyl aficionado is back with hundreds more records for your listening pleasure.
Matt Donovan has a new collection of vinyl that he’s offering up Saturday at Moe’s Barbecue. From 4-8 p.m., stop by Moe’s to shop his newest finds.
Donovan has been collecting records for years. He noticed a serious absence of vinyl in Jackson, and has worked hard to fill it.
“It’s sort of been my M.O. to facilitate joy through the medium of music as well as to expose niches in Jackson,” Donovan told Buckrail back in June. “I’ve collected vinyl for a long time, but only in the past three or four years did I realize there was hardly any access to it in a geographic sense.” In fact, as far as he knows, his sale is the only one like it within a 4-6 hour drive.
And what a shame, he thought. Buying records online doesn’t offer the same experience as being able to “physically page through crates and boxes and open the jacket and inspect the quality of the records.”
Donovan’s collection includes something for every musical taste. This batch includes a collection Donavan bought from someone in Utah, and Saturday will be the first time anyone’s ever seen it. He has everything from classic hip hop, original blues like Lightning Hopkins and Muddy Waters, and multiple copies of some “serious classics” like Exile on Main, Dark Side of the Moon, and most of Led Zeppelin’s discography.
