JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Chip seal and overshoot on Highway 390 has been completed as of this afternoon. Residents and commuters can expect to see crews working on the shoulders—installing delineators and conducting general cleanup and punchlist items.
The earliest will be working on delineators the week Sept 17. The work should have minimal disruption and no stop delays.
However, striping will probably take place next Monday, September 10. It may cause some slowdowns as crews run down the road and reset for widening areas. That should be a fairly quick process though and delays should be minimal.
Be aware of the striping truck on the road and slow down accordingly. Stripers travel at a mere 15 mph while applying the paint and travel with a shadow car, which watches for traffic in the area. Drivers are urged to not follow stripers too closely. Striping operations are slow moving and can cause traffic delay. Striping paint dries fully within three to six minutes.
Meanwhile, the Jackson South Widening Project, as it’s called, is nearly ready to go 4-5 lanes from town to Munger Mountain Elementary School. The remainder of the highway widening of S Highway 89—all the way to Hoback Junction—will begin in spring 2019.
The multi-year, multi-project effort to improve traffic flow and safety is under the purview of Nicholas Shidner, WYDOT Project Engineer.
