JACKSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has announced that U.S. 191/189 will be closed temporarily through Hoback Canyon beginning at 5 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, for avalanche mitigation.

“Additional closures may be necessary depending on weather conditions,” WYDOT’s announcement reads. “Reduced visibility, winter driving conditions and increasing avalanche hazard may force an earlier closure.”

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect in the Jackson Hole area until 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3. See Buckrail’s winter driving tips here. Sign up for WYDOT alerts here.
