JACKSON, Wyo. — Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) is alerting recreationists that boulders, some “larger than a full-size vehicle,” are blocking two sections of Granite Creek Road.

In a Thursday press release, BTNF noted that the boulders “released from the hillside.” BTNF stated that snowmobilers can navigate around the boulders, and added that the road is still open for ski-steered or tracked over-snow vehicles as well as Nordic skiers.

The boulders are scheduled to be removed using blasters on Wednesday, April 2. The road will be closed to users for a half-mile in both directions to prepare for the removal and to remove the debris after the blast, a closure expected to last for approximately one hour. BTNF shared that exact scheduling for that day is yet to be determined, but plans will be posted on social media in advance.

“We apologize for the temporary inconvenience,” BTNF said via press release.
