The health of our electoral system depends on transparency. All citizens should be able to see who is funding our candidates.

Alex Muromcew, the Republican candidate for Wyoming House District 23, announces his commitment to refuse contributions from industry and corporate PAC’s, and invites all voters to learn more about him and his opponent through publicly available filings from the Wyoming Secretary of State. Filings can be easily found atwww.wycampaignfinance.gov.

“The influence of so-called ‘dark money’ is having a pernicious effect on elections, degrading the trust of the voting public. I am a conservationist and also support the expansion of Medicaid. I pledge to refuse contributions from extraction industries, big pharma, and the insurance industry. I call on my opponent to do the same.”

According to the Wyoming Secretary of State website, Democratic incumbent Andy Schwartz received donations from the Wyoming Mining Association PAC and the Cigna PAC during this year’s election cycle. In 2016, even as he ran unopposed, Schwartz accepted money from pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, British Petroleum, and Wyoming Mining.

Aside from individual donors, Muromcew has received contributions from the Teton County Republican Party, the Wyoming State Republican Party, and a Common Values, a Republican PAC chaired by U.S. Senator John Barrasso.

“I am grateful for the support of fellow Republicans for my first political campaign. I can say with complete confidence that our values are aligned.”
