JACKSON, Wyo. — Happy 4th of July from the Crew at Dave Hansen Whitewater!

This year, the Dave Hansen team took a symbolic route to celebrate—channeling the spirit of George Washington’s iconic crossing of the Delaware River. Our own Joey Alessandria proudly carried the flag, charging through the rapids in true patriotic style.

Joey and his wife, Hannah, are our outstanding managers of Alpine Valley RV Resort. But even more notably, Joey is a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, where he has faithfully served for 16 years.

Photographer Eric Parker captured the moment Joey braced himself as he plunged into Big Kahuna—the biggest wave on the Snake River at these water levels.

There aren’t many better places to spend the 4th than out on the Snake—but it’s always better (and more fashionable) in a life jacket.
