GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — To kick off visitor season in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP), kids and families are invited to the park’s Junior Ranger Day festivities on Saturday, May 3.

The theme of this year’s free event will be the animals that inhabit the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

“We know nature is full of incredible creatures—some we rarely see, some with amazing abilities and some with stories that have been passed down for generations,” GTNP’s press release states. “This Junior Ranger Day, we’re exploring the mysterious animals that hide in our ecosystems, the magical adaptations that help them survive and the mythical tales that connect people to wildlife. From camouflage to incredible senses, nature’s ‘superpowers’ are real—and they make our world even more exciting to discover!”

Attendees can expect park-themed games and hands-on learning stations, the chance to interact with park staff and see rescue vehicles up close, and other indoor and outdoor activities and exhibits. Kids can earn a coveted Junior Ranger Day badge through participation.

Other educational exhibits will be presented by Teton Science Schools, the Cougar Fund, the National Elk Refuge, the Teton Raptor Center, Wyoming Stargazing, Bridger-Teton National Forest, the Teton County Library and the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation.

Junior Ranger Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center. Teton Park Road is expected to open for the season on Thursday, May 1.
