GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — People are itching to get outdoors and play in the mountains. But the weather has something to say.

Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) posted a stunning timelapse of the Tetons on Wednesday, reminding park visitors that the weather can change in the blink of an eye. According to the post, hikers and adventurers are urged to “pack like you’re going on a week-long expedition.”

The timelapse captures sunshine, moving clouds, and rain and snow that fell on the Cathedral Group over a four-hour time period. May has historically been a time of uncertain weather in the valley, and it’s best not to get caught without the right layers or gear.

Be sure to heed Mother Nature’s warnings, check the forecast and maybe throw an extra pair of gloves in your pack on your next spring adventure.
