Punxsutawney, Pa. — The prediction has been made. North America will see six more weeks of winter according to Punxsutawney Phil.

This morning, Feb. 2, at Gobblers Knobb Park, Phil emerged from his burrow and directed a handler to read his prediction scroll.

“I see that everyone knows their part, and I am merely the sage,” a handler read off the scroll. “But above all else, I see a shadow on my stage. And so no matter how you measure, it’s six more weeks of winter weather.”

The 137-year-old tradition, taking place in western Pennsylvania is hosted by the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, famous for their black top hats.

Wild claims were made, and people from every state and almost every country were supposedly present at the ceremony this morning.

One thing is for certain in Jackson Hole today, the sun is shining and winter’s run is far from over.
