TETON VALLEY, IDA –Early spring is the season when some winter activities are still taking place but so are a few spring things like bears awakening from hibernation.
While grooming the Two Tops Trail on the Ashton/Island Park Ranger District the other night, a Fremont County employee took this picture as a reminder that some bears (males are usually the early spring risers) are starting to be out and about.
Bears will be hungry and looking for food after sleeping all winter. They are a little cranky and will jealously guard or steal a food source. Our neighbors at Caribou-Targhee say, “Stay alert and enjoy your last few weeks playing in the snow!”
