DUBOIS, Wyo. — Renowned Grizzly 399’s likeness will now be preserved for posterity!

On Saturday, June 1, Wyomingites can celebrate Mother Grizzly 399 and her four cubs from 2020 during the dedication of her bronze sculpture in front of the National Museum of Military Vehicles in Dubois.

The public is welcome to attend the dedication ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m. in the Pascal Poolaw Administration Building, east of the Museum on highway U.S. 26.

Featured speakers of the one-hour presentation will include Dan Starks, Louisa Willcox, Sandy Scott and the co-founders of the Deidre Bainbridge Wildlife Fund.

The eight-foot-tall sculpture of the world’s most famous grizzly was created by famed wildlife sculptor Sandy Scott. Sandy casted the sculpture at the Eagle Bronze foundry in Lander. The sculpture is now installed at the Museum with appropriate landscaping and signage.

Unaware of the honor, 399 continues her life as a celebrity. On April 21, Mother Grizzly 399 and her cub “Spirit” emerged from their den in Grand Teton National Park.
