WYOMING — Gov. Mark Gordon ordered all flags in the state to be lowered to half-staff out of respect for country music icon Dolly Parton, who died Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Gordon’s order follows a proclamation by President Trump ordering that flags across the country remain at half-staff this week to commemorate the singer and songwriter.

Flags will remain lowered until sunset on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Parton performed at least twice in Wyoming during her storied career. In 1978, she shared the Cheyenne Frontier Days stage with Kenny Rogers, Charley Pride and others. Later, she played a show with Rogers in the 1990s at the Ford Wyoming Center (formerly the Casper Events Center). Ford Wyoming Center shared an autographed photo on social media in remembrance of the music star.
