JACKSON, Wyo. — Governor Mark Gordon, met with local and elected officials from across the state, at the Elks Lodge on Tuesday, July 16 to recognize all the people and construction crews who worked hard to open WY22/Teton Pass to commuters in just three weeks.

Teton Pass was only closed for 20 days after the roadway at milepost 12.8 failed catastrophically in a landslide on June 8.
During the celebratory lunch, Gordon thanked Evans, HK and Avail Construction workers, as well as over 65 Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) crew workers “from the bottom of our hearts” for their many hours dedicated to the Pass detour construction.
According to the Governor’s Office, Gordon spoke on the importance of Teton Pass and the coordinated effort that happened on a federal, state and local level. “By working together, incredible work can happen,” Gordon said in a statement.
Wyoming senators and WYDOT’s Director Darin Westby also expressed gratitude during the celebration.
Westby highlighted the department’s construction crews and Resident Engineer Bob Hammond for “keeping spirits high during the 24-hour work schedules.”
“Wyoming is an incredible state, and what continues to resonate is our ability to come together and achieve great things, support and lift each other up, and collaborate,” Senator Mike Gierau said in a statement. “Our Governor, U.S. Senators, WYDOT, statewide electeds, local electeds in Wyoming and Idaho, nonprofit organizations and our community know how to work together and achieve great things, and I am so proud to be a part of this valley and our great state.”
