JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Public Art (JHPA), in partnership with Teton Village, brings a month plus of glowing sculptures to the Teton Village Commons. GlowNights has become an anticipated part of Teton County’s festive winter events.
Five Electric Dandelions created by Liquid PXL, a Los Angeles art collective, will be on display in the Teton Village Commons at the base of the world-famous Jackson Hole Mountain Resort from Dec. 21 through Jan. 24, 2025.
On Dec. 21, Teton Village Association will kick off Winterfest with a celebration of the Electric Dandelions, a free-skate from 4 to 6 p.m., and cocoa and cookies under the Dandelions. At 5 p.m., there will be a tree lighting ceremony and caroling.
By day, the Electric Dandelions crafted from sturdy steel, translucent polycarbonate and vibrant LEDs, captivate with their representation of a dandelion in full bloom. As the sun sets, they transform into a breathtaking spectacle. These light sculptures boast a captivating and refined lighting design, using LED lights to cascade twinkling colors high above the ground. Their distinctive spherical form is the result of a meticulously crafted geodesic sphere nestled at the core of each Dandelion. From their vertices, 41 luminous tubes extend, forming a spectacular 15-foot diameter flower.
On Jan. 24 at Teton Village, there will be a GlowLights closing party, featuring a DJ and local wine, whiskey, beer and tequila tastings.
“We are delighted to bring lighted sculptures to the darkest winter months,” says Carrie Geraci, executive director of Jackson Hole Public Art. “It’s exciting to install fabricated sculptures created by art collectives that work specifically with art and light in the environment. We owe thanks to lodging tax funding from Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism, the Teton Village Association and Willow Street for making these large-scale installations possible.”
