New Reformer Quad Classes at DW
Beginning the first week of June, Dancer’s Workshop will be adding more Quad Reformer Classes to our ongoing Adult class schedule! Pilates is an innovative system of mind-body exercise: Concentration, Control, Center, Precision, Flow, and Breath. With regular practice, Pilates significantly transforms the way your body looks, feels, and performs. Boosting your overall core strength and flexibility, Pilates offers a wide range of benefits including better balance, improved posture, and injury prevention — it even reduces stress and gives your immune system an extra boost!
New class times, led by Sarah Hemphill, include Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m., Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m., Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.. Sarah is an alumnus of Dancers’ Workshop and currently runs the Adult Fitness/Wellness Program. She received her full, comprehensive certification in Pilates through Balanced Body University in 2012, and also holds a B.F.A. in Modern Dancer from the University of Utah. She’s been teaching dance and movement classes throughout the valley for over 15 years and has been teaching Pilates for a decade.
“I consider Pilates to be a mind-body discipline and my approach to teaching is very much influenced by my love of dance and movement. I maintain a philosophy that highlights working with clients as individuals and instructing from a platform that emphasizes education in conjunction with dynamic movement,” she said. Sarah is also an experienced pre/postnatal instructor, and she loves helping mamas-to-be throughout their pregnancies and post-birth experiences through Pilates.
“These are for everyone and anyone who is looking to make a positive change in their lives. Whether you are new to Pilates or well-practiced, these classes will have a strong emphasis on breathwork, posture, correct form and alignment, strengthening, and lengthening,” says Sarah. “We will target the entire body from head to toe and can always add different variations as needed. We will work to develop every aspect of physical strength. These classes will heighten your body awareness as well as improve balance and proprioception. We also will utilize the chair apparatus, another amazing piece of equipment not found in most Reformer Group classes in the valley.”

Fulfilling Our Dance Dreams
Have you ever watched a ballerina leap gracefully across the stage and felt a twinge of regret? A tiny, flickering wish that you had pursued dance when you were younger? Maybe even a little sadness at the thought? Stop! No! It’s not too late! At DW, your dance dreams can come to life at any age!
Join us for an age-appropriate exploration of the art of ballet. DW not only explores the physical component of the craft, but takes a three-dimensional tour through its origins, different production aspects such as lighting, sets, and costumes, learning and accomplishing basic ballet vocabulary, and presenting a performance at the end of the workshop.
This is a nine-week course that meets once a week at Dancers’ Workshop. In addition, there will be other times the class will meet in the theater to have classes around the production aspects of dance and watch professional dancers in rehearsal. Classes will be on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. from June 8 through Aug. 3. Call 307-733-6398 for more details, or to reserve your spot!
