JACKSON, Wyo. — As winter weather begins to affect local roads, now is the time to double-check the safety of children’s car seats.

Jackson Hole Fire/EMS and the Teton County Health Department announced that they are hosting a free car seat safety check event on Friday, Nov. 22, at Fire Station 1. Certified car seat technicians will be on hand to verify that each car seat is properly installed and fits each child. Participants are asked to bring children to the event to ensure best fit.

Free car seats will be available at the event for those who need them, while supplies last, the agencies said in their joint press release.

“With winter quickly approaching, it is the perfect time to check your car seat’s installation and learn about the safest way to travel with children,” the release reads. “Our goal is to keep our community safe and ensure children are traveling in the right seat, at the right time and using it the right way.”

The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday. Spanish interpretation will be provided. Participants are asked to park behind Fire Administration at 40 E. Pearl Ave. See www.tetoncountywy.gov/maternalchildhealth for more.
