JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole Chamber today announced the difficult decision to cancel the Fourth of July parade for 2020 due to the inability to meet guidelines set forth for the health and safety of the community and its visitors.
The Chamber plans to focus on promoting alternative safe and fun Fourth of July celebrations, including fireworks, as visitors flock to Jackson for the holiday weekend.
This decision comes after updated guidelines announced that a 250-person limit with 6 feet between each household at all outdoor gatherings was essential to ensure proper safety.
“It’s a very difficult decision to cancel a beloved tradition in Jackson,” said special events manager, Britney Magleby. “But the inability to limit and spread crowds ultimately made the decision for us. The safety of our community and visitors is our first priority.”
The Chamber will feature other Fourth of July events. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has confirmed their fireworks display on July 3 and 4, and Snow King Mountain fireworks are confirmed for the night of the 4th.
The Jackson Hole Playhouse is still evaluating the ability to host the Town Square Shootout this summer. WW Productions, operator of the Jackson Hole Rodeo is also evaluating its ability to host a local rodeo.
