JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Buckrail has confirmed Jackson resident and philanthropist Foster Friess will run for Governor of Wyoming.

Friess, a GOP megadonor who has appeared on numerous political TV and radio talk shows in support of the Republican Party and its candidates, will now become one himself.

“I humbly seek your support to serve you as Wyoming’s Governor. I will not seek re-election so I can be free to ‘shake things up,'” Friess said in a prepared statement. “I hope you’ll saddle up to join our team.”

The 78-year-old was considering a run for John Barrasso’s senate seat but a wide-open gubernatorial race with Matt Mead stepping aside due to office term limits was more seemingly more appealing. Friess has not previously held any political office.

According to Politico.com, Friess made the announcement today at a GOP luncheon. He also said he would serve only one term if elected and donate his salary to charity. Friess is worth an estimated $530 million, according to Wealth-X, a wealth research firm.
