HOBACK, Wyo. — U.S. Forest Service Rangers from the Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton recently discovered a site in the Hoback area described as an”egregious” use of public lands.
“We happened upon one of the more egregious examples of public land users disregarding the regulations and damaging the resource that is our public lands,” read a social media post from the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
Rangers photographed the site littered with crates, signs, couches and a bonfire stove. The Service stated that cleaning up of the area will be costly and time-consuming.
“To clean this site up and begin the repair processes it will cost the Jackson Ranger District thousands of dollars and over one hundred man hours that could have been used for other purposes,” said the Service.
While members of the public have volunteered to help clean up the site, the Service has asked for those involved in the creation of the site to clean it up themselves.
