Food waste examined in documentary for foodies with a conscience Refrigerator Major appliance Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Most of us relish Thanksgiving leftovers (it’s why Miracle Whip was invented), but how much sweet potato pie, dried dark meat, and crusty stuffing do you end up scooping into the trash? How much food do we all waste on an annual basis?

We certainly live in a nation where some of us could us the occasional reminder that not all of us have so good. In the US and in Wyoming, there is an unacceptable level of food waste. We can all do better.

An engaging documentary is currently playing in select theatres across the country. It’s called Wasted: The Story of Food Waste. If you haven’t had a chance to see it, Hole Food Rescue is bringing the film to Jackson for one night only—December 1.

Anthony Bourdain

In the new documentary by Anthony Bourdain, the director/chef contends 40% of the food produced in America goes to waste. Waste aims to change the way people buy, cook, recycle, and eat food

Through the eyes of chef-heroes like Bourdain, Dan Barber, Mario Batali, Massimo Bottura, and Danny Bowien, Wasted exposes the criminality of food waste and shows us how each of us can make small changes—all of them delicious—to make the most of every kind of food.

The Jackson Hole premier of Anthony Bourdain’s Wasted: The Story of Food Waste is Friday, December 1. Doors 6:30pm, movie 7pm. $10 presale, $12 at the door. Center for the Arts.
