JACKSON, Wyo. — The bridge-repair saga continues.
Construction work on the Flat Creek Bridge on US89 has been ongoing since late April, with only two lanes open for traffic. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) sent an email update on Wednesday to notify the public that the traffic pattern is expected to change on Friday, May 15. Crews will move their focus to the other half of the bridge and open the two west lanes for vehicles.
“Similar to the first month of work, the five-lane road will continue to be reduced to two lanes, one in each direction, for the safety of the traveling public and the working crews,” WYDOT wrote.
Continued work on the bridge includes partial removal of the bridge deck, replacement of sections of the deck and railing, other minor repairs and painting. WYDOT says that the concrete and bridge work require favorable temperatures, so schedules are weather dependent and subject to change. Work is currently scheduled to wrap up by June 10.
“Crews are working hard to meet the completion date,” WYDOT Resident Engineer Bob Hammond said in a statement.
