YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Starting last Friday, Sept. 4, fishing restrictions were lifted completely from the Firehole, Madison and Gibbon rivers in Yellowstone National Park (YNP) due to lower water temperatures and cooler weather.

On July 15, full fishing closures were issued for those rivers, which were scaled back on Aug. 28. When water flows are low and water temperatures higher than 68°F, the restrictions are put into place to protect fish.

Park staff will continue monitoring water temperatures. Temporary restrictions could be put into place if water temperatures rise. Fishing regulations are specified by YNP and can be seen here.
