UNITED STATES — Know a nature-loving kid?
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has announced the return of its Virtual Youth Fish and Wildlife Club, which meets weekly to encourage kids to develop an appreciation for the natural world.
According to the agency, the meetings are designed for kids ages 8 through 12, but people of all ages are welcome to tune in. The intended audience includes “inquisitive explorers, young anglers, brilliant biologists, future fish nerds, generally nature-curious kiddos” plus “younger kiddos and curious adults.”
Meeting topics will facilitate young people engaging with science and learning outdoor skills, with a particular focus on nature and culture in the Alaska and Mountain-Prairie regions. Several upcoming meetings could resonate locally, with such topics as “All About Bison,” “Staying Safe Around Ice and Snow,” “Step Inside a National Fish Hatchery,” “Women in Conservation,” “All About Wolves” and “How to Poo Politely on (and Respect) Your Public Lands.”
The group meets virtually on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. MST via Zoom using meeting ID: 161 744 4324 and password: F&Wclub23! See the Fish & Wildlife website for more information. This season’s full schedule is as follows:
