Yellowstone’s first wildlife of the year was detected yesterday by hikers on the Sevenmile Hole trail.
The lightning-ignited fire is burning three miles east of Canyon Village near the Yellowstone River. It is a 0.1-acre fire smoldering on a steep, rocky slope.
The fire is not accessible by foot and thus will be monitored for the canyon rim by firefighters. It currently does not pose a threat to park visitors.
