A message from county commissioner candidate Luther Propst:

JACKSON, Wyo. — Firefighters and emergency medical technicians risk their lives to protect our community and to help injured people.

As a county commissioner for the past three and a half years, I have learned first hand the extent of their constant training and their ability to bring a high level of expertise and preparation into the work they do to protect our community.  They make an extraordinary sacrifice.

For these reasons, I am incredibly proud that International Association of Firefighters Local 5067 (Jackson Hole Professional Firefighters) has endorsed me to be re-elected for a second term on the Teton County Board of County Commissioners.

Austin Sessions, president of Local 5067 says: “We have a long history with Luther, we endorsed him in his first election and, since becoming county commissioner, he has been an incredible advocate for firefighters. Everything from air quality in the station to our recent push in the county for fair and equitable wages — he was our number one supporter in all of those. Going forward, we are especially backing Luther because of his strong support for housing the workforce. We face a huge challenge recruiting and retaining qualified people to be in our department because of a lack of workforce housing.  His work for housing that is truly affordable for local workers is a big plus for us.”

The Jackson Hole Firefighters Local 5067 is the voice for our local career firefighters and also the only organized voice for labor and working people in the valley. I am proud to have advocated on behalf of firefighters and other public employees over the past three and half years.

I am honored to receive the endorsement of local firefighters and look forward to working with our firefighters for another four years to improve public safety and to provide a voice for working people on the county commission.
