DRIGGS, Idaho — Teton County (Idaho) Fire & Rescue will host an open house for Fire Prevention Month on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Driggs Fire Station.

The open house will take place at Station 1, located at 911 ID33 in Driggs, from 4 to 7 p.m. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public of all ages.

The event will offer educational opportunities for the whole family to learn about fire prevention, along with activities for kids. It is also a good time to review fire evacuation plans with others in the same household, especially children.

Fire & Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Brown told Buckrail that many fire departments around the country host an open house like this during October as an educational experience.

“But it’s about more than just teaching safe behaviors at the fire department,” Brown said. “We want people to see how we operate and see that we’re normal people and see where their tax dollars go.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the station and check out the truck, as well as meet the crew that operates equipment and responds to incidents in the area.
