TETON VALLEY, Ida. — Anny Malo turned in another mistake-free run in Driggs to extend her overall lead to nearly 10 minutes in the Pedigree Stage Stop Race.

With just one leg left to go, Malo would have to stumble mightily in the Gros Ventre Saturday to let victory slip out from her grasp. The race leader covered a slow, snowy track in Driggs at a 12.9 mph pace over the 32 miles for a 2:28:56. Second-place Lina Streeper let her dogs run but they could cover the course no quicker than 2:29:45.

Stage 6 in Driggs was one for the ladies. After Malo and Streeper, it is the hometowner Alix Crittenden, a surging Maria Torgerson, and rock steady Rachel Courtney who now round out the top 5 positions. Jeff Conn, who had been holding down 5th place, withdrew Friday.

The race wraps up in the Gros Ventre Wilderness near Slide Lake on Saturday.
