WYOMING – A crash yesterday on Highway 220 near Baroil left one dead as both vehicles were engulfed in flames.

Wyoming Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene of a fatal two-vehicle collision at milepost 50 on Wyo220 near Baroil at 5:27am on Tuesday, August 28. Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a two-vehicle collision.

A 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer was traveling northbound on Wyo220 when the vehicle crossed the center lane and entered into the southbound lane of travel colliding head-on with a 2019 Freightliner.

Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the roadway and became fully engulfed in flames. The driver of the Chevrolet succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Freightliner was transported via ground ambulance to the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins.

The driver of the Chevrolet Trail Blazer was identified as Damion Coombes, 29, of Evanston, Wyo.

This is the 69th fatality on Wyoming’s highways in 2018 compared to 101 in 2017, 80 in 2016, and 100 in 2015 to date.
