JACKSON, Wyo. — Time to make way for winter!

The Town of Jackson and Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling are hosting Fall Cleanup Week, which runs from Nov. 1 through Nov. 8. Residents can drop off yard waste for free before winter sets in. All collected materials are composted locally. Bring leaves, grass clippings, garden trimmings and other compostable yard debris to the following collection sites.

Free yard waste days at the Trash Transfer Station: Nov. 1-8

The first 500 pounds of residential yard-waste per household is free at the Trash Transfer Station for the week. Cleanup Week includes two Saturdays this year due to popular demand, according to event organizers.

Grass, leaves, branches and pumpkins can be brought loose or in bags, which should then be emptied and sorted into appropriate piles. No trash or dog waste will be accepted. The facility is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Free yard-waste collection event at the Rodeo Grounds: Nov. 7

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., bring leaves, grass, pumpkins and branches, either loose or in bags to the Rodeo Grounds for free processing. Note that there will be no curbside pickup, and that this event is intended for residential yard waste only, not commercial business drop-off.

Compost clean Jack-o’-lanterns

After Halloween, carved pumpkins can be composted for free at the in-town Fall Clean Up Day on Nov. 7, or at the Recycling Center compost bin during office hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday), or at the Trash Transfer Station all week during business hours. Before handing them over, clear every pumpkin of decorations and candles to ensure safe compost.

Free compost bags

While supplies last, free compostable bags are available at Town Hall and the Recycling Center.
