Fall Clean Up events begin this week

JACKSON, Wyo. — Everybody loves fall and its leaves — until it’s time to clean up.

Luckily, you are not alone. Fall Clean Up is a time in Jackson when the community comes together to help each other pick up the masses of decomposing leaves.

Fall Clean Up begins this week

The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce will hold a collaborative Fall Clean Up between the Lunch Rotary Club, Energy Conservation Works, and Rendezvous River Sports. The event on the Chamber’s calendar begins today Oct. 12 and will run through Sunday, Oct. 18.

The event idea for this “Fall Clean Up” is to expand the typical Spring Clean Up cleaning area to include all the roads and parks within the developed areas of our County, as well as popular spots on our public lands.

They are working with our public land managers to identify areas that may need the most love and will assign people and groups to different spots to clean.

More information on the Chamber’s Fall Clean Up can be found here.

Town Residential Yard Waste Drop-off

You can pick up composting bags at the recycling center, Town Hall or Public Works. Then fill them with yard waste and drop them off at the rodeo grounds Friday, November 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Due to health concerns, staff will not be able to assist with unloading.

Individuals dropping off yard waste will be asked to empty their own bags. Sorry, no plastic garbage bags, trash, or dog poop — it’ll be sent home with you. Limbs and branches can be brought bagless. Yard waste will be locally composted, not buried in a landfill.

The Trash Transfer Station Residential Yard Waste Drop-off will be November 2-7. Drop-offs can be made Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During this week the Transfer Station will accept your first 500 pounds of residential yard waste for free if brought in loose, in compostable bags (no plastic bags), or other reusable containers. After 500 pounds you will be charged at $83/ton or $.04 lb. This does not apply to businesses.
