WILSON, Wyo. — Construction on WY22 through Wilson will cause traffic delays through next week, according to an announcement made Tuesday by Moving Together.
Commuters are advised to expect delays.
Construction crews will be moving trucks in and out of the construction zone and onto WY22.
“No additional one-way traffic is expected to occur in the immediate future,” the announcement says.
Drivers hoping to go from Teton Village to Jackson on Monday morning were faced with hourlong travel times. Tuesday morning single-lane traffic on WY22 near the Snake River Bridge caused extra congestion in Wilson, as well.
One Facebook user posted to the Community Page of Teton County Idaho Tuesday morning about the delays.
“If you are driving to Jackson, I have been stuck in traffic near Wilson for 40 minutes without moving,” the user said.
In addition to the roadway construction, crews have started paving the Wilson to Stilson pathway, which is not yet open to public use. The pathway will remain an active construction zone for the coming weeks.
“We greatly appreciate the public’s understanding and patience as we work to improve multi-modal travel for everyone in the Teton Region,” the announcement read.
Construction crews have reported hearing verbal harassment from frustrated drivers.
“For the commuters and people who live on the West Bank, we appreciate their patience,” WYDOT Resident Engineer Bob Hammond told Buckrail last week. “We try not to do things to create traffic.”
