JACKSON, Wyo. – Energy Conservation Works is calling on locals to congratulate the following business for five years on Lower Valley Energy’s 100% Green Power Program:

Healthy Being Juicery, High Country Linen Service, Integrity Chiropractic, Inn on the Creek, Jackson Hole Airport, Navigate, Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce & 4JH Lodging Tax, Local, Mountain Town Maintenance, Roadhouse Brewing, Snow King Mountain Resort, Stio and Trio are celebrating their 5th Year Green Power Anniversary!

Leaders of environmental action, these businesses made the decision in 2018 to switch electric business operations to 100% Green Power to preserve Jackson’s environment, economy and community as stewards of natural resources in the community.

At Lower Valley’s affordable electricity rates, the community has the opportunity to support renewable energy at some of the cheapest electricity prices in the US (LVE’s Green Power Program is one cent more per kWh than the base electricity rate, at 6 cents per kWh, while the US average pays 12 cents per kWh). When a customer participates in the Green Power program, LVE purchases electricity from certified green power facilities.

The majority of LVE’s Green Power is sourced from the Horse Butte Wind Farm, outside of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and the Pleasant Valley Wind Farm, outside of Evanston, WY, based on projected energy usage from Green Power customers.

“The more of us who choose to participate in Green Power will also help ensure that our communities will benefit from renewable energy sources long into the future.”

Businesses, homeowners and renters play a key role in shaping Teton County’s energy future and have the power to influence neighbors, friends, locals and visitors. 125 businesses and over 1,000 homes are already in the Green Power Program. By choosing Green Power, the community can support the development of renewable energy sources, which can reduce the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas, and their environmental impacts.

Choosing renewable power also reduces the impact on our water sources, the air we breathe, wildlife and the land around us.

The Green Power Program is a joint program between Energy Conservation Works and Lower Valley Energy, aiming to serve customers who would like to purchase Renewable Energy Certified electricity. Since the partnership began in 2017, Green Power sales have doubled. The program is open to both commercial and residential LVE customers (renters and homeowners).

“We are proud as the local energy provider to offer this green alternative option to our members. We are grateful for everyone who has participated in the program.”

Amy Walton, Lower Valley Energy

Green Power is paid for by an extra monthly premium, which shows up on customer bills in addition to regular monthly charges. The Green Power Rate is an additional $0.01167 per kWh or a 20% rate increase. For a typical household, this is an average increase of $20 per month.
