JACKSON, Wyo. — The latest in the growing list of postponed events due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19 is the annual EcoFair in Jackson.
“We have determined that postponing EcoFair 2020 is in the best interest of our community, the event, and its sponsors,” said Energy Conservation Works executive director Phil Cameron. “This decision aligns with current guidance from health and safety professionals in our community regarding large events and is influenced by the uncertain conditions we will face in the coming weeks and months. We are considering several options for rescheduling and will seek community input in the coming weeks.”
Energy Conservation Works hosts the 17-year tradition that draws some 2,000 participants and fairgoers annually. EcoFair 2020 was to have taken place this year on May 9. The yearly event is organized in part by local events planner, Vibrant Events.
“Please know that it is our intent to host a fun and meaningful event for the Jackson Hole community in a manner and timeframe that is safe and responsible,” event director Virginia Powell Symons added. “At its core, EcoFair celebrates the sustainability and health of our community. We look forward to the event doing just that, at a time when the community, our partners, and public health recommendations allow.”
Event organizers will continue to accept applications, and approved applicants will be invited to provide input regarding the rescheduling of the event. There will be no registration fees at this time and fees will be assessed once an alternative date has been selected and event planning moves forward.
