JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The mysterious case of the deer art gone missing has officially been solved and closed as far as the Jackson Police Department is concerned. The wildlife sculpture that had been swiped from Walgreens last month reappeared on the Town Hall lawn Saturday, April 1—doe and fawn grazing peacefully.

The $20,000 deer sculpture was reported stolen from Walgreens after artist Ben Roth noticed his work missing from in front of the condemned pharmacy on Broadway sometime between March 18 and March 19. Saturday morning, town administrator Bob McLaurin spotted the artwork on the lawn of Town Hall at about 11 am.

According to town PIO Carl Pelletier, the deer appear to be unharmed during their absence, and the artwork now awaits reassignment. One potential relocation site is in front of the new pump station along Broadway, Pelletier said.

“The Town of Jackson is thankful to have the sculpture returned,” Pelletier added.
