JACKSON, Wyo. — Calling all river lovers, eddy hoppers, wave chasers, and Snake River Swim Team members — it’s your time to shine! There are just two weeks left to enter Dave Hansen’s annual High Water Heyday contest. Think you’ve got river smarts? Take your best guess at this year’s high water mark (in cubic feet per second), and you could paddle off with your very own brand-new NRS raft!
And this year, we’re making a splash with something new…
For the first time ever, young river runners ages 13–17 can join the Heyday fun in a special youth category for a chance to win a Tributary Spud Inflatable Kayak!
Through donating trips to local schools, camps, and outdoor programs our goal each season is to get as many local kids on the Snake as possible. Whether you’ve grown up rafting the Snake, just discovered your love for splashy rapids, or feel that special pull toward the water, we are jumping at the chance to help younger wave crashers cultivate that love for rivers we know all too well! With that in mind, giving away a brand new inflatable kayak to the younger river rat who comes closest to guessing the peak (without going over) is the “obvious line” to take!
Seeing kids catch that river “bug” is the highlight of our seasons. Seriously, there’s nothing better than watching the next generation of river runners light up after their first big splash on Kahuna or learning to paddle all the way through Cottonwoods with confidence. The river has a way of calling to young adventures, shaping their passion for the beautiful outdoors, and making sure they grow up in this valley loving one of the we are here for every second of it!
Contest closes May 31 — so check the river report, make your best guess, and join in the Heyday!
