RIVERTON, Wyo. — Central Wyoming College has released its Spring 2021 plan to transition into a phased reopening of in-person classes and college services. As CWC navigates these challenging times, they are being proactive in planning for alternative avenues of safely delivering courses and activities to students effectively.
Decisions have been made with an understanding that the team’s goal is to successfully balance the priorities of student/employee/community health with student learning and success. The situation is dynamic and therefore college must remind students that the schedule should remain flexible. You can find all the information about the Spring adjustments for 2021 on the CWC COVID-19 Campus Updates & Resources page under the accordion “Altered Spring 2021 Schedule.”
Masks will continue to be mandatory in all indoor CWC locations as well as outdoors in areas where social distancing of six feet or more is not possible. Masks must cover both the nose and the mouth.
Employees serving students will return to campus on January 5 and those with high student contact will be required to provide a negative COVID test prior to arrival at campus. All students and visitors to campus will continue to be monitored for illness by participating in health screening and wearing masks at all times while inside campus buildings. If outside campus facilities, masks will be required when individuals are unable to maintain physical distancing of 6 feet at all times.
Classes for the semester will begin by remote learning on January 11. Select courses approved by the VP of Academics (high need for hands-on instruction) will begin face-to-face instruction on January 18 as long as the campus and community virus activity remains stable. If not, instruction will continue via remote delivery. January 25 is the target date for all on-site delivery to commence if virus activity remains stable.
All courses this spring will be set up for face-to-face instruction AND remote learning in case there are rolling closures. In general, academics must prepare for the possibility of rolling closures and have built-in flexibility for course delivery.
Students who fall ill will move to remote instruction for their courses, and faculty will work with ill students so they can stay successful in classes.
In addition, all students, employees, and visitors to any CWC facility will be screened DAILY for current symptoms of illness. The screening will feature a questionnaire of symptoms, and if students respond “YES” to any of the questions regarding symptoms, then they will stay home and contact Public Health to determine if a quarantine and/or COVID-19 test is recommended.
