JACKSON, Wyo. — Community Safety Network (CSN) is hosting a solidarity gathering for people affected by domestic violence at Jackson’s Town Square on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the U.S. and according to Adrian Croke, director of Education & Prevention for CSN, “in a single year in the U.S., more than 12 million people are victims of domestic violence.”

“That’s about the population of the state of Illinois, Croke said in an email to Buckrail. “This number only represents the victims. Imagine the families, friends, coworkers, and all the systems affected by the trauma inflicted through domestic violence.”

The solidarity gathering will include opening and closing remarks, as well as 12 minutes of silence to honor all people affected by domestic violence.

“This event is an opportunity to show all community members, survivors included, that we are not going to let domestic violence proliferate in the shadows,” Shannon Brooks Hamby, executive director of CSN said. “Through our gathering, our physical presence will represent our support of victims and survivors, sending a message that they are not alone.”

CSN is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides a safe place for people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in Jackson, Wyoming. If you are in need of support, call the CSN’s 24/7 helpline: 307-733-SAFE (7233).
