Crash on Highway 22 results in fatality, arrest

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – A head-on crash on Highway 22 near Skyline last night claimed the life of one.

A driver of a Porsche driving east on Highway 22 was hit and killed by a driver of a pickup truck headed west. The driver of the Porsche was pronounced dead on the scene. A passenger in that vehicle was transported to St. John’s Medical Center with unknown but nonlife-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup was unhurt.

The victim hasĀ been identified as Bob Arndt, 53, of Teton County. Arndt, along with his wife Melanie Arndt (Harrice), once owned Jackson Whole Grocer. Buckrail is trying to confirm Arndt’s wife was the injured passenger. Eye witnesses believe it was Melanie.

The man driving the pickup has been identified as Rudy Henry Isla-Mejico, 41, of Driggs. He was booked on charges of Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Driving Without a Driver’s License, Driving Without Headlights, and Driving on the Right Side of the Road.*
