WYOMING – It’s no April Fool’s joke, the Wyoming Cowboy basketball team defeated Coastal Carolina Friday night in a deciding Game 3 in front of more than 6,300 hometown fans for the College Basketball Invitational championship.
Justin James again led the Pokes with 17 points as the Cowboys trounced Coastal Caroline 83-59. James was named the tournament’s MVP for his efforts.
The game was close through the midway point of the first half but Wyoming pulled away for the 24-point victory. It’s the second post-season championship for Wyoming basketball and the first since they won the NCAA trophy in 1943.
