JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County Health Department’s Sexual and Reproductive Health team is hosting a low to no-cost sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing event this weekend.
Testing for common STIs, such as HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and hepatitis C, will be available. No appointments are needed to attend and walk-ins are welcome, but be aware that wait times at the event are possible. Participants will be entered into a raffle, and they can opt to take home some free swag.
“If you are sexually active, getting tested for STIs is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health,” the event announcement said.
Various health organizations recommend that sexually active individuals get tested for STIs annually.
According to the event’s organizers, if a participant lives in Wyoming or works in Teton County, the tests will be free of charge. If neither of those factors apply to the participant, pricing will be determined by which tests they want to take, but the department will work with the participant to find the lowest possible cost for them.
The event will be held on Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Teton County Health Department’s office, which is located at 460 East Pearl Ave. Those who can’t attend the event can make separate STI testing appointments by calling (307) 733-6401 and selecting option 4 for nursing services.
