JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Airport travelers should expect to see construction activities in the terminal beginning Jan. 3, announced the airport today, Dec. 22.
According to the airport, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Checkpoint will undergo a complete remodel, creating four new security screening lanes.
A temporary checkpoint is slated to open Jan. 18. The first two days that the temporary checkpoint is open, Jan. 18 and 19, only two screening lanes will be available.
By Jan. 20, the airport hopes to have three temporary screening lanes open until the project is complete.
Another aspect of the terminal construction is the passenger holdroom area adjacent to the checkpoint. Construction will begin on Jan. 19 to create additional seating and flexible-free standing space for travelers, said the Airport.
“We are working with our partners, airline and staff to ensure a smooth process while the TSA Checkpoint and holdroom are under construction,” says Executive Director Jim Elwood. “Our motto is ‘People Helping People,’ and we will be throughout the Airport to support you during construction. In addition, we hope that our community and travelers will have extra patience during this project and assist us in arriving early for their flights to guarantee a successful airport experience.”
Both projects are targeted to be completed by June 27, 2022, to coincide with the runway re-opening. The Jackson Hole Airport will be closed from April 11, 2022, with a planned reopening on the morning of June 28, 2022.
The airport encourages travelers to arrive two hours before departure due to construction and best practices. Checked luggage must be checked-in 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
