JACKSON, Wyo. — Friends of Pathways hosted “Ditch the Drive Day,” Thursday, Aug. 17, an event that replaced “Bike to Work Day,” aimed at encouraging community members to walk, bike or use the bus.

Sam Petri, Communications and Advocacy Director for Friends of Pathways said about 150 people participated this year.

Stations serving coffee and breakfast items were set up at Stilson, Picnic and Center for the Arts to reward walkers, bikers and those that rode the bus with treats. Teton Village Association, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and St. John’s Health also participated with breakfast stations of their own.

“It was great to see so many people participate officially by stopping by our booths, but what is even more encouraging is just how many people walk and bike on our pathways— over one million counts a year,” Petri said.

Ditch The Drive Day was supported by Jackson Hole Community Pathways, Teton Village Association, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Picnic, Pearl Street Bagels, Center for the Arts, Skinny Skis, REI and St.John’s Health.
